Job Responsibilities

Librarian’s job is not only issuing books or keeping records of books. The main concept is to provide information, resources and syllabus-based programmes to enhance student learning across the curriculum.
To see that every book bought for the library is entered in the Accession Register with full information, according to the column provided.
To put the correct colour-coded cards and pockets, Shelf registers.
To train students how to select books according to their level and interest.
To take care and repair all books.
To ensure the security of books and accurate record keeping.
To improve the reading skills of reluctant readers and maintain a reading register.
Give full support to the staff members in selecting and providing books.
Making informative corners and soft board displays.
To arrange competitions and assembly presentations.
To write a planner and monthly report.
Support curriculum programme (for teachers/students).
Encourage investigative study and Develop and improve reading skills.
Stimulate child’s curiosity and Improve child’s understanding of subjects
Develop good reading habits and the love for reading books.
Make the library attractive, colourful and inviting.
Be well prepared and organized at all times (Librarians).
Set up interest boards that stimulate the curiosity of the child.
Make books easily available to a child who is of his/her age and ability level.
Plan activities that encourage maximum student involvement.
Provide a variety of books to avoid monotony and repetition.
Provide books which are subject-related and also provide information on a variety of subjects.
Most prominently – create an environment inside and outside your libraries which emits an atmosphere that something stimulating is happening-make it happen
